Your private garden cinema room

The aluminium pergola turns an open patio into a more defined outdoor entertainment room.

Adjustable roof louvres help you manage light and shelter, while pull-down blinds on three sides add privacy and can reduce some distracting light from neighbouring properties.

The integrated heater makes cooler evenings more comfortable, and the built-in LED lighting provides practical illumination while guests arrive, collect drinks or take their seats.

For the clearest projected image, the pergola lights should be dimmed or switched off once viewing begins.

The TCL Projector C1

The Lifestyle package includes the TCL Projector C1, a portable smart projector with Google TV and officially certified Netflix access.

It projects at a native Full HD resolution of 1920 × 1080 and accepts supported 4K source content. The final projected image remains 1080p, so this is not a native 4K projector.

TCL specifies a projection range of approximately 40 to 120 inches, making the projector suitably matched to the included 120-inch screen when the required projection distance is available.

Smart streaming with Google TV

Google TV brings compatible films, television programmes and streaming applications together through one interface.

Netflix certification means the service can be accessed directly through the projector without relying on an unofficial application or necessarily adding a separate streaming stick.

Google Assistant and Google Cast provide additional options for searching, voice control and casting compatible content from a phone or tablet.

A reliable Wi-Fi connection, user accounts and any required paid subscriptions are not included with the bundle. Application and content availability can vary by provider and location.

Full HD picture designed for evening use

The TCL C1 produces a native 1080p image and has a stated brightness of 230 ISO lumens.

This brightness level is best suited to dark or substantially shaded conditions. For outdoor cinema use, the clearest results will normally be achieved after sunset.

The pergola roof and privacy blinds can reduce some surrounding light, but they will not make the projector suitable for bright daytime viewing.

Streetlights, neighbouring garden lights, open sides and illuminated pergola LEDs can all reduce contrast and make darker scenes harder to see.

Automatic picture adjustment

The C1 includes automatic setup functions that make it easier to reposition the projector between viewing sessions.

These include:

• Automatic keystone correction

• Automatic screen alignment

• Obstacle avoidance

The projector detects the available projection area and adjusts the image to produce a clearer rectangular picture.

The best results will still be achieved by positioning the projector centrally and level with the screen. Excessive digital correction can reduce the available image size and may slightly affect picture clarity.

Built-in sound

An integrated 8W speaker provides sound directly from the projector, allowing the cinema to operate without a separate audio system.

This is suitable for relaxed viewing in quieter gardens, although open-air sound performance will depend on wind, neighbouring noise, conversation and the distance between the projector and seating.

The C1 also provides Bluetooth connectivity and a 3.5mm audio output, allowing a compatible external speaker to be added later.

Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, HDMI, USB and a 3.5mm audio connection.

Portable and flexible positioning

The TCL C1 weighs approximately 1.77kg and incorporates a carrying handle with a 285-degree adjustable gimbal.

This allows the projection angle to be changed without using a separate tilting bracket.

The projector must still be placed on a secure and stable surface where it cannot be knocked over or exposed to rain, condensation or excessive heat from the pergola heater.

The 120-inch wootfairy screen

The included wootfairy screen provides a 120-inch diagonal viewing area in a widescreen 16:9 format.

The screen uses a foldable polyester or milk-silk projection surface, supports front and rear projection and provides a stated viewing angle of approximately 160 degrees.

The supplied freestanding support system allows it to be assembled without permanently fixing a screen to a wall or pergola. A carry bag makes it easier to store the screen and frame between cinema nights.

Screen dimensions and available space

A 120-inch 16:9 screen has a visible surface measuring approximately:

• Width: 105 inches or 267cm

• Height: 58–59 inches or approximately 148cm

• Diagonal: 120 inches or 305cm

The support frame and stabilising components will require additional width beyond the visible screen surface.

This is important because the clear internal width of a nominal 3m side may be reduced by the pergola posts, blind runners and structural frame.

The screen should normally be positioned across the 3m end of the pergola, with the projector using the longer 4m dimension for its projection distance.

Exact internal pergola measurements must be checked before confirming that the screen and its complete stand will fit. The instructions supplied with the screen give the exact stand measurements and take precedence over the approximate sizes above.

Projector distance for a 120-inch picture

The TCL C1 uses a standard projection ratio of approximately 1.27:1.

A full 120-inch widescreen image therefore requires roughly 3.3 metres between the projector lens and the screen.

A 4×3m pergola may provide enough overall length, but the usable distance will be reduced by the screen frame, pergola posts, projector body and any required clearance behind the equipment.

The projector may need to be positioned immediately behind the seating or close to the open edge of the pergola.

Where the full distance is unavailable, the projected image can be reduced to less than 120 inches. Automatic screen fitting should not be treated as a substitute for having sufficient physical projection distance.

Screen stability and wind

A 120-inch screen creates a substantial surface area for wind to act against.

All supplied stabilising ropes, feet, anchors or weighting accessories should be used where appropriate for the surface and conditions.

The screen should not be assembled during strong, gusting or unsafe weather. Privacy blinds may reduce some airflow but do not eliminate the possibility of the screen moving or overturning.

The projection screen should be dismantled and stored in a dry location after use rather than being left permanently assembled beneath the pergola.

The EVRE Malibu rattan lounge set

The bundle includes the EVRE Malibu three-seat rattan garden lounge set.

This is a relaxed cinema-seating arrangement rather than a formal outdoor dining set. It includes:

The modular layout creates an L-shaped sofa with space for up to three people, making it suitable for watching films, relaxing with drinks or stretching out during longer events.

Furniture construction and comfort

The Malibu set uses a powder-coated steel frame wrapped in UV-resistant polyethylene rattan.

The supplied cushions are approximately 7cm thick. The coffee table incorporates a tempered-glass top designed to provide a convenient surface for drinks, snacks and remote controls.

The set has a stated maximum weight allowance of approximately 110kg per seat.

Approximate component dimensions are:

• Two-seat sofa: 120cm wide × 52cm deep × 62cm high

• Lounger section: 90cm wide × 130cm deep × 62cm high

• Coffee table: 45 × 45cm with a height of approximately 31cm

The complete arranged footprint is approximately 205 × 139cm, although the exact layout can change depending on how the sections are positioned.

Caring for the furniture

The rattan frame is designed for outdoor use, but the cushion covers are described as shower-resistant rather than permanently waterproof.

Cushions should be stored indoors during prolonged rain and when the furniture is not being used. Covering the complete set will also help protect it from dirt, fading and winter weather.

The furniture is supplied flat-packed and requires assembly.

Chilled drinks within easy reach

The package includes the Baridi by Dellonda DH13, a black under-counter drinks fridge with a glass-front door.

It has an 85-litre stated size and approximately 80 litres of usable internal capacity. Depending on the arrangement of shelves and drinks, Dellonda states that it can accommodate up to approximately 110 standard 330ml cans.

Important fridge positioning

The Baridi DH13 is an under-counter domestic drinks fridge and is not marketed as a weatherproof outdoor appliance.

It must be positioned in a dry, properly sheltered and ventilated location where it is protected from:

• Rain and wind-driven moisture

• Standing water

• Condensation

• Direct projector or heater exhaust

• Drinks being spilled into electrical components

• Temperatures outside the manufacturer’s operating conditions

A louvred pergola with privacy blinds does not create a fully enclosed or weatherproof indoor room.

Dellonda advises that the appliance may not function correctly if the surrounding temperature falls below its cooling range. An outdoor building may therefore need to be insulated and heated during winter use.

Fridge ventilation

The fridge must not be fitted tightly against the pergola, furniture or a decorative enclosure.

Dellonda specifies minimum ventilation space of approximately:

• 50mm behind the appliance

• 30mm above

• 30mm on each side

These clearances help ventilation, door operation and appliance performance.

Blankets and outdoor rug

Two blankets provide additional comfort as the evening temperature drops, while the outdoor rug helps define the cinema lounge and creates a softer surface beneath the furniture.

The blankets and rug should be kept dry and stored appropriately after use unless the specific manufacturer instructions confirm that they can remain outside permanently.

Planning your cinema layout

The 4×3m footprint provides more flexibility than the Essentials package, but the screen, furniture, fridge and projector still need to be planned carefully.

The nominal pergola dimensions do not represent the complete clear internal area. Space will be reduced by:

• Pergola posts

• Structural frame components

• Blind tracks and mechanisms

• The integrated heater

• Base plates and fixings

• Required access and ventilation clearances

A practical arrangement will normally position the screen across the 3m side and use the 4m length for projector distance and seating.

You must allow space for:

• The complete screen frame

• Approximately 3.3m of projector throw for a full 120-inch image

• Safe projector positioning

• The Malibu furniture footprint

• Access to the fridge

• Fridge ventilation

• Walkways and emergency access

• Operation of the blinds

• Safe cable routing

Power and internet requirements

The projector, fridge, heater and pergola lighting require a suitable electrical supply.

Your installation should provide:

• RCD-protected power

• Outdoor-rated sockets where applicable

• Safe separation from wet areas

• Protected cable routes

• No trailing cables across entrances or walkways

• Adequate capacity for the combined electrical load

• Reliable Wi-Fi coverage for streaming

Any new outdoor socket, fixed electrical supply or alteration should be completed by a competent electrician.

Streaming quality will depend on the strength and stability of the Wi-Fi signal reaching the pergola.

Weather protection

The projector, fridge and screen should not be treated as permanently weatherproof equipment.

The projector must be brought into a dry location after use and protected from rain, damp, condensation and extreme temperatures.

The screen should be dismantled during poor weather, and the furniture cushions, blankets and rug should be moved into suitable storage when they are not being used.

Installation

Installation is not included as standard unless specifically stated in your order.

Pergola assembly will normally require at least two capable adults, appropriate tools and a correctly prepared solid and level base.

The EVRE furniture is supplied flat-packed and requires assembly. The screen is portable and must be assembled, tensioned and stabilised for each use.

The projector does not require permanent audiovisual installation but must be positioned securely with appropriate access to electricity and Wi-Fi.
